Pabrade is a town located in eastern Lithuania, about 50 kilometers northeast of Vilnius, the capital city. It is part of the Vilnius County and has a population of approximately 3,000 inhabitants.
One of the main attractions in Pabrade is the Pabrade Hill Fort, an ancient defensive structure located on a hill overlooking the town. The fort is believed to have been built in the 7th-8th century and was used by the Balts, the ancient inhabitants of the region, to protect their land and resist invaders.
Pabrade is also home to the Pabrade Air Base, a military airfield used by the Lithuanian Air Force and NATO. The base is a key component of Lithuania's national defense system and plays an important role in safeguarding the country's airspace.
The town has a number of amenities, including shops, cafes, restaurants, and a cultural center. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking, cycling, and fishing in the surrounding forests and lakes. Pabrade is also conveniently located near other popular destinations in Lithuania, such as the historic city of Trakai, the Curonian Spit, and the Hill of Crosses.
